July 11, 2019 - Despite losing play-maker Francis Kahata to Tanzania's Simba SC, Gor Mahia, the reigning Kenya Premier League champions, have demonstrated their resilience in the Cecafa Kagame Cup.
The team, which has won 18 Kenyan championships, has shown impressive chemistry and quality in their first two group matches, securing two wins and advancing to the quarter-finals.
Coach Hassan Oktay praised his team's new signings after their 2-0 victory over Djibouti's AS Port at the Umugunda stadium in Rubavu, Rwanda.
Substitute Boniface Omondi scored the opening goal in the 70th minute with a solo effort, dancing through a swarm of AS Port defenders and stabbing the ball past the opposing goalkeeper.
