July 11, 2019, marked a significant day for Chipukeezy, a renowned figure in the Kenyan entertainment industry. However, few people know about his humble beginnings as a boda-boda operator in his hometown of Tala, Machakos.

Chipukeezy, a NACADA board member, has been open about his past, revealing that he supplied illicit brew in his hometown. He attributes this to his desire to make a living and escape poverty after completing his high school education at Tala and Masii High Schools.

‘After high school, I became a boda-boda rider and my work was also to transport chang’aa to different places at our home,’ Chipukeezy told Word Is.

However, his life took a dramatic turn when he was involved in an accident that left him injured. This incident marked the end of his boda-boda days, and he moved to Nairobi to pursue a career in acting.

Chipukeezy's journey to stardom was not without its challenges. He faced numerous setbacks, but his determination and passion for acting kept him going. He eventually landed roles in various set books and even harbored dreams of starring in ‘Tahidi High’.

Today, Chipukeezy is a respected figure in the entertainment industry, and he uses his platform to raise awareness about alcohol and substance abuse. His advice to people is to be open about these issues, saying, ‘Let us tell the children the truth about it so they have the knowledge before they get to a point they are now abusing it.’
