Five Killed, 13 Injured in Machakos Matatu Accident

On Wednesday evening, a devastating road accident occurred at Muumandu on the Wote-Machakos road, claiming the lives of five passengers and leaving 13 others seriously injured.

According to Machakos County Director of Emergency Services David Mwongela, the accident involved a 14-seater matatu that veered off the road and rolled several times, killing five people instantly.

The driver of the matatu, which was heading to Machakos from Makueni, was reportedly speeding at the time of the accident.

The injured were rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where the bodies of the deceased were also taken for post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the incident are currently underway to determine the cause of the accident.
