On November 24, 2017, President Uhuru Kenyatta invited Raila Odinga to the inauguration ceremony at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani, which was set to take place on the same day.

However, Raila Odinga broke his silence on the matter on Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Laico Regency, dismissing reports of a planned swearing-in ceremony by the Nasa camp.

He stated that the event, which was initially reported to be a swearing-in ceremony, would instead be a memorial service to honor those who died at the hands of the police during the election period.

The memorial service is set to take place at the Jacaranda grounds in Donholm.

It's worth noting that some opposition leaders had suggested that they would swear in Raila Odinga concurrently with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
