On July 10, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Kawanga village, Homa Bay County, where a 16-year-old Form Three student was found dead in his home.

The student, who was sent home to collect school fees, was found dangling from the ceiling of his parents' bedroom by his parents, who were unaware of what had happened.

According to the area Assistant Chief James Adika, the parents had given the student the money on Wednesday morning and left him to prepare and return to school.

However, it is alleged that the student waited for his parents to leave and then hanged himself using a rope.

Investigations are underway, but the motive behind the incident remains unclear.

The body of the deceased was taken to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
