Kenya Police Arrest Nine Eritreans for Illegal Entry

On July 10, 2019, Kenyan authorities arrested nine Eritrean immigrants on the Isiolo-Moyale highway in Samburu East, northern Kenya, for entering the country illegally.

According to Samburu County police boss Muiruri Karanja, two children were among the group.

The immigrants were on their way to Nairobi, the capital city, when they were arrested by police manning a roadblock in Kirish.

Mr. Karanja stated, "Police manning a roadblock in Kirish arrested the immigrants," and added that the suspects will be charged in court for being in the country illegally.

The nine individuals, including the two minors, are being held at Archers Post Police Station in Samburu East.
