5 Eritreans Arrested En Route to Nairobi

On Wednesday morning, July 10, 2019, police manning a roadblock at Kirish area along the Isiolo-Moyale highway in Samburu East Sub County arrested 5 Eritreans who were en route to Nairobi.

The group, which included 2 minors, was traveling in a personal vehicle with registration number KCR 731H (NISSAN SERENA). The vehicle has been impounded by the police.

According to County police commander Mr Karanja Muiruri, the Eritreans lacked valid travel documents and permits to be in the country. The money they were carrying was also confiscated by the police.

Mr Muiruri stated that the 5 individuals, along with the 2 minors, are currently being held at Samburu East Archers police station. They will be charged with being in the country unlawfully.

Investigations are underway to arraign the 7 adults in court.
