On February 1, 2022, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru caused a scene at a Kenya Kwanza rally in Nairobi, as their differences played out in the presence of Deputy President William Ruto and other top Kenya Kwanza leaders.

The two politicians, who are both eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, got into a confrontation after Bishop Wanjiru tried to grab the microphone from Senator Sakaja as he was delivering a speech.

Senator Sakaja refused to let go of the mic, leading to a tense standoff that fell short of a physical altercation.

According to sources, the partnership between Ruto, ANC chief Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford-Kenya's Moses Wetangula has created confusion in Nairobi, Rift Valley, and Western regions, with some politicians fearing they may be left out in the cold.

As the Kenya Kwanza tour continued, UDA aspirants were disappointed after they were denied a chance to address a rally at Posta grounds in Bungoma last week, sparking concerns that the alliance may not be as inclusive as initially thought.

Senator Sakaja later lashed out at Bishop Wanjiru, saying she should have shown more decorum, and advised that when one is annoyed with what someone is saying, they should simply be quiet.
