On Tuesday, Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai visited Kakamega County, where he spoke to motorists and police officers along the busy Kakamega-Kisumu road.
Published on July 10, 2019, Mutyambai emphasized the importance of traffic officers performing their duties without collecting bribes from motorists.
"I am thinking of introducing rewards to honour traffic officers who will set a good example in their work by ensuring they do not engage in corrupt practices and enhance road safety," said Mutyambai.
He commended the Kakamega Traffic Base Commander, Bernard King'oo, and his team for their good work on the roads.
As part of his efforts to promote integrity, Mutyambai plans to invite the Kakamega traffic officers to other regions to share their best practices.
During his visit, a mobile court was set up along the road, where several motorists were arrested and charged with flouting traffic regulations.
