On October 6, over 3,000 participants, including defending champions Joyciline Jepkosgei and Kevin Kiptum, will take part in the Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon. The event has received a significant boost in sponsorship and prizes, making it an exciting competition for athletes.

Family Bank Acting Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Mbithi unveiled a Sh12 million sponsorship for this year's competition, up from Sh10 million last year. The increased sponsorship will benefit the top 10 finishers in the event, with each winner in the men's and women's 21km (Half marathon) pocketing Sh350,000, up from Sh250,000 last year.

The prize fund will cover the top 10 finishers, and the proceeds from the race will go towards inclusive education, especially autism at Sosiani Primary School, Eldoret. The event has been a significant contributor to the school, with close to Sh3 million raised last year. Since taking up the cause in 2016, Family Bank has renovated two classrooms and accommodated 44 pupils in the Special Needs Programme.

Registration for the marathon has kicked off, with participants required to part with Sh1,000 fee. They can also register online via https://familygroupmarathon.com and at all Family Bank branches countrywide. Other sponsors of the Marathon include AAR Insurance, Brainwave Communications Limited, Maisha Water, and Eldoret County.
