As of June 20, 2019, OLX users in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, and Tanzania were automatically transferred to Jiji, a massive African marketplace, following a merger between the two companies. This move, announced in April 2019, has left many users unhappy.
According to General Manager of OLX for the Middle East and Africa, "With our focus on accelerating the growth of other markets, now is an opportune time to sell our interests in these markets."
1. Accept the Change ¶
It's time to move on from OLX and explore the new features and opportunities offered by Jiji. With over 10 million unique active users and 150,000 sellers, Jiji is a platform worth considering.
Instead of dwelling on what's lost, focus on what Jiji has to offer. You can start by researching the website and exploring its features.
2. Restore Your OLX Account Data ¶
As per the official letter sent to OLX users, your account details, including personal information and active advertisements, were transferred to Walie Holdings Ltd on June 14, 2019. If you didn't receive the letter, check your spam box or contact Jiji's support team at [email protected].
3. Explore New Opportunities on Jiji ¶
Don't be a skeptic; instead, be open to new opportunities. Jiji has a lot to offer, and it's worth exploring. You can start by writing directly to Jiji's support team and suggesting changes to their website and services.
4. Improve Your Business ¶
The transition to Jiji is a great opportunity to reassess your business and make improvements. Analyze your previous activities, decisions, and advertisements. Find out what went wrong and make a plan to improve. Jiji is not a verdict, but a door to a broader audience for your goods.
