On July 10, 2019, media personality Janet Mbugua spoke out against Ebru TV after the station aired an episode of a skit targeting women on the streets.
The skit, which has been shared on Twitter, features a host verbally harassing women who ignore him, and even touching them inappropriately.
Twitter user @steppingrazor first shared the video, terming it as sexual harassment.
“Some of @EbruTVKenya’s show, #EbruJibonge, are sexual harassment by any definition,” he wrote.
Janet Mbugua responded to the tweet, expressing her outrage and demanding an apology from Ebru TV.
“Wait how is this supposed to be funny? How can someone be normalizing street harassment in the form of this skit? When can we expect an apology from @EbruTVKenya??!! COME ON! WTH?” she wrote.
