Kenyan Creativity on Full Display ¶
After Vera Sidika's melanin photos went viral, Kenyans showed off their creativity by creating a myriad of memes and jokes about the situation.
One of the most popular memes features Churchill comedian Mammito, who Photoshopped her face into Vera's photo with a caption that reads:
Good morning from Malaysia Always remember to make changes in every step of your life... #beingblack #livinlife #travellife
Fans responded with comments such as:
?? you are THICK …………in the head.????? Imagine uko na wazimu btw? Mamito unatafutwa na daktari hujameza dawa?? We ni VeraZidiga? Enyi ndugu wakristo msiwe kama kinyonga????
However, not everyone was amused. Vera Sidika herself expressed her disappointment with the meme, saying:
Aki whoever did this ain’t seeing heaven?????? Anyways. Atleast I can say Mini Bado ni rangi ya thao ☺️
Despite the mixed reactions, the meme has sparked a conversation about embracing one's natural beauty and the importance of self-acceptance.
