NTV news presenter Doreen Gatwiri Majala's estranged husband, Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi, has agreed to pay her Sh3 million to settle an assault case she filed against him.
According to reports, MP Mulyungi offered the payment through his lawyer Erick Masese to avoid a jail term, which could have resulted in his removal from office as stated in the Constitution.
Ms. Doreen, through her lawyer Cliff Ombetta, reportedly agreed to drop the case once the MP makes the compensation.
However, the divorce case in which the news anchor describes MP Mulyungi as "a man with unforgivable temper" will proceed.
On February 25th, 2018, MP Mulyungi allegedly battered Ms. Majala at their home in Nairobi's Karen estate, leaving her with head injuries and a numb left ear.
Ms. Majala had tweeted about the incident, stating that it was not the first time the MP beat her up.
