On the eve of her wedding to Dr. Nyotu Gitau, Dr. Monica Njeri, daughter of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, finds herself at the center of a storm. The union, initially met with excitement, has been marred by controversy and allegations of graft.

According to a communication from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) released on Thursday, July 18, the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club, where the reception was to be held, was ordered to be closed due to non-compliance with rules for discharging effluent. The hotel's manager was arrested, and a closure order was issued.

However, in a surprising turn of events, NEMA reversed its order on Friday, allowing the hotel to remain open. The decision came as a relief to the organizers of the event, who were keen to avoid disappointing the governor and his guests.

The union between Dr. Monica Njeri and Dr. Nyotu Gitau has been the subject of discussion, with critics alleging that it was a scheme by Waititu to 'reward his in-law.' Dr. Nyotu Gitau's father, Herman Gitau Nyotu, was shortlisted for the Chairman position in the Kiambu County Public Service Board, sparking concerns of nepotism.

Dr. Monica Njeri is also facing graft allegations at the Kiambu County government. The Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji, has approved the prosecution of Governor Waititu, his wife Susan Ndung'u, and daughter Monica Njeri, alongside eight chief officers and businessmen.
