Former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has thrown his hat into the ring for the Laikipia East parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2022 General Elections.
As the former Laikipia lawmaker from 1997 to 2012, Kiunjuri is banking on his experience to complete several stalled projects in the constituency, including a 10 km road connecting Mirera, Naromoru, and Lamuria.
When he resumes office in August, Kiunjuri vowed to ensure the completion of the road, which was removed from state projects and allocated to Laikipia County, thus affecting its completion.
During a football tournament sponsored by The Service Party (TSP) at Matanya grounds in Tigithi ward, Kiunjuri boasted of his good working record as a former CS, citing the allocation of Ksh217 million for the Nyamaguna water project, Ksh96 million for the Mutaro water project, and Ksh70 million for the Solio water project.
He urged locals to vote for TSP aspirants, explaining that with a significant number of TSP parliamentarians in the National Assembly, he would have bargaining power to demand development projects for his constituents.
Kiunjuri, who was speaking at the TSP-sponsored football tournament, asserted that he aims to get not less than 20 MPs and senators elected under his party.
