On a chilly night in Rosario, Argentina, a bar and restaurant owned by Lionel Messi's family has been a beacon of hope for the homeless. The restaurant, named VIP, has been handing out free food and drink to those in desperate need.

Argentina is currently experiencing a cold snap, coupled with economic uncertainty, which has led to many people sleeping rough on the streets. To help cope with the crisis, the restaurant has been offering warm food and drink to those who require it.

According to Ariel Almada, the restaurant manager, they have been giving out coffee, soft drinks, and even some wine to those in need. Many people have been respectful and grateful for the kindness.

The restaurant plans to continue this initiative for 15 days, every night between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. They also plan to collect warm clothes to hand out to those who require them.

Lionel Messi is heavily involved in charity work through the Leo Messi Foundation, which has donated €200,000 to help fund a water project in conjunction with UNICEF in Kenya in February. The project provided access to running water for over 2,000 people in their homes and primary schools.

However, Messi was recently involved in controversy following Argentina's defeat to Brazil in the semi-finals of the Copa America. He suggested that the referees were in favour of a Brazilian victory, stating, "There is no doubt, the whole thing is set up for Brazil. I hope the VAR and referees don't play any part in the final and that Peru can compete but it looks tough to me."
