Published on July 9, 2019, the African Diaspora Network (ADN) has received a $45,000 grant from eBay to support its mission of empowering African entrepreneurs.
As one of the 24 winners selected for the eBay Foundation's $1 million Grant, ADN aims to provide a platform for mentorship and collaboration between African entrepreneurs and Silicon Valley-based professionals.
According to Helen Kim, Vice President of Business Operations of Product and Technology at eBay, ADN is an organization that inspires and empowers African entrepreneurs, and its mission has the potential to create economic stability on the African continent.
Through its proposal, 'Innovation through Collective Collaboration,' ADN seeks to create access to resources that foster partnership, knowledge-sharing, and advance investment opportunities.
ADN's Founder and Executive Director, Almaz Negash, expressed her delight at the opportunity to collaborate with eBay employees, stating, 'The partnership between ADN and eBay will strengthen the capacity of the organization to support ADN's Builders of Africa's Future.'
ADN's Builders of Africa's Future program showcases and supports select Africa-based entrepreneurs who run early-stage for-profit and nonprofits addressing Africa's unique needs.
The grant will support a three-month mentorship program involving hacking and panel discussions, networking, career advice, internships, and job opportunities for 7-10 African entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley and 7-10 entrepreneurs on the continent.
