On a tour to Baringo County in 2019, Deputy President William Ruto expressed confidence in his preparedness for the 2022 presidential contest.

According to The Star, Ruto stated that he had mobilized enough resources in readiness for the next election.

While emphasizing his focus on supporting President Kenyatta's development agenda, Ruto maintained that his relationship with the President remains intact.

Addressing residents of Eldama-Ravine, Ruto urged the Kalenjin community to unite in support of his presidential ambitions, stating that they were only one step away from the presidency.

He emphasized the need for peace and unity among citizens and leaders to move the country forward.
