On June 3, 2018, a disturbing incident occurred at Moi Girls' School Kamusinga in Kimilili, Bungoma. A teacher, Willy Masiokari, was accused of defiling a 14-year-old student.
The Form Two student reported that the teacher summoned her to the staff room, where he allegedly forced her to bend over and commit the act. She claimed that she had previously turned down the teacher's advances, saying that their relationship should be limited to teacher and student.
However, the teacher allegedly pulled her back and forcibly bent her over, leading to the sexual assault. The student immediately reported the incident to the authorities.
Kimilili Sub-County Assistant Commissioner Reuben Loyotoman offered a different account of the story, suggesting that the two may have had an ongoing relationship and that the student had accused the teacher of rape after their affair was made public.
He stated, 'I think there must have been some consent but since this lady realized that the story has gone out, she now changed the story to be rape, but I think they must have been friends for some time from the way we're getting the whole story.'
