Administration Police Officers, Civilian Arraigned for Murder of Hotel Employee

On April 27 and 28, Abdinasir Ahmed, a hotel employee, was allegedly murdered by three individuals at Status Lounge and Restaurant in Ndhiwa town. The suspects, Administration Police officers Fredrick Kimanzi and Lawi Gitari, and civilian Alex Arot, who is the driver to Homa Bay deputy Governor Hamilton Orata, were charged before Justice David Karanja.

According to the court, the suspects had not undergone a mental health assessment, and therefore, were not required to plead to the charge. Justice Karanja ordered that they be taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for a check-up to establish their fitness to stand trial.

The case will be heard on July 16, 2019.
