Apple has quietly discontinued the 12-inch MacBook and the last-gen MacBook Air, a move that marks the end of an era in MacBook design. The 12-inch MacBook was first introduced in 2015 and was the first MacBook to use USB-C and the butterfly keyboard.

According to Apple's website, the company has stopped selling the 12-inch MacBook, which was known for being the slimmest laptop in its lineup. The laptop's discontinuation comes just a few months after the launch of the refreshed MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

While the discontinuation of the old MacBook Air may not come as a surprise, given the price drop of the Retina MacBook Air, the end of the 12-inch MacBook may be a disappointment for Apple users who value having the lightest Mac possible.

As of now, Apple has not formally announced the fate of the previous MacBook Air or 12-inch MacBook, but users can still purchase refurbished models of the 12-inch MacBook on Apple's refurbished products site.
