On July 9, 2019, a distressing case of child abuse came to light in Mathare slums, where a one-year-old boy was rescued by Children's Officer Wyclife Anami and his team.
According to Anami, the rescue was triggered by a tip from a concerned member of the public, who reported that the child was being physically assaulted by his aunt.
Upon arrival, Anami and his team found the child locked out of the house, left in the cold in the middle of the night, with a broken arm as a result of the aunt's physical assault.
The child was immediately taken to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment and later placed at a children's home.
As of the rescue, the aunt remained at large, with the police yet to make an arrest.
