Published on July 9, 2019, a debate on MP allowances sparked by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi on NTV's AM Live show.

Mr. Wamatangi claimed to earn Sh640 after deductions every month, while Mr. Amollo said he was now more broke as an MP.

"I have been the Ombudsman and I have been in public practice, I have never been broke like I am now as an MP," Mr. Amollo said.

Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo concurred with these sentiments, stating that most MPs have a very miserable job.

However, Kenyans on Twitter advised the legislators to quit their jobs if they are not satisfied with the pay.

Some Twitter users, including Dennis the Menace, Kariuki Biu, and Joseph Mureey, expressed their frustration with the MPs' claims, suggesting they resign and find alternative employment.
