Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has tied the knot with his long-time sweetheart Emma Rhys-Jones in a secret ceremony in Majorca, Spain.
The 29-year-old Welsh international, who has been linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer, married his 27-year-old bride in front of just 60 family and friends.
According to sources, the couple initially planned a star-studded occasion in a picturesque Italian castle with Beyoncé as their wedding singer, but abandoned the plan after a 'rollercoaster' year.
Despite the low-key nature of the wedding, the presence of heavy security personnel has raised eyebrows, with some speculating that it may be connected to Emma's family feud.
Emma's grandparents, John and Eva McMurray, who helped raise her after her father was jailed, were reportedly left out of the wedding, with John stating, 'I can't believe what they've done. We knew the wedding was coming up and of course we were expecting an invite.'
Gareth Bale's future at Real Madrid is also uncertain, with manager Zinedine Zidane confirming that he will not be in his squad next season.
Meanwhile, fellow football star Mesut Özil has recently tied the knot with his fiancée Amine Gulse in a ceremony in Turkey.
