ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has challenged Jubilee Party to reveal any deals made between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto regarding the 2022 succession politics.
Speaking in Kisumu, Mudavadi questioned the existence of a purported deal between the President and his deputy, saying that Kenyans are not privy to any information about such a deal.
“Nobody can be held at a ransom by some purported deal on 2022 elections. Kenyans are not privy to any information about a deal struck between the President and his deputy in Jubilee Party over a planned succession of the President,” Mudavadi said.
Mudavadi also questioned where such a deal leaves other Kenyans interested in the presidency, as it would seem that the presidency is only the preserve of a few people.
“What does such a deal leave those of us and others interested in the Presidency if at all it was hatched?” Mudavadi asked. “There is no constitutional provision of an automatic ticket to Presidency.
His remarks come at a time when there has been talk of impending political betrayal of DP William Ruto, following the truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
