On the heels of hosting their fifth Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt is looking to take its football ambitions to the next level. The Egyptian Football Association President, Hany Abu Rida, revealed last week that the country is mulling a bid to host the Uefa Super Cup, Spanish, and Italian Super Cups.

According to Rida, the association is yet to decide on when they will put out a bid to bring the illustrious fixture to Egyptian soil. 'There are also plans to host the Italian or the Spanish super cups and the matter will be decided in future,' he said.

Meanwhile, Egypt is gearing up to host this year's Under-23 Afcon from November 8 to 22. The country has been praised for its excellent pitches, with the fields of all six venues being commended for their exceptional state.

However, the country is struggling with plastic waste, particularly in Cairo, where garbage dumps and littered streets are a common sight. The use of plastic bags and bottles is widespread, with many residents using them to wrap their purchases.

On a lighter note, a scuffle broke out between Guinean and Algerian journalists at the 30 June Stadium media stand during the round of 16 match between their two nations. The incident was sparked by an Algerian journalist splashing water around the stand in excitement after the Desert Foxes' opener.
