Published on July 9, 2019, Ghana's Black Stars were eliminated by Tunisia in the African Cup of Nations, marking the first time they have been knocked out by the Carthage Eagles in the competition.
The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes, with Tunisia scoring first before Ghana's defender scored an own goal in the 92nd minute to send the game into extra time.
However, Ghana's hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals were dashed as they lost 5-4 on penalties.
This defeat means Ghana has missed the chance to end their 37-year AFCON drought, a drought that has seen them miss the semi-final berth at the AFCON after six successive appearances.
Tunisia has thus booked a quarterfinal clash with tournament debutants, Madagascar, who defeated D.R Congo 4-2 on penalties.
