On Sunday, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua sparked widespread anxiety when he announced on Facebook that Kalonzo Musyoka's wife, Pauline Musyoka, had passed away.

However, it has since emerged that Pauline Musyoka is actually recovering from a long illness, according to Daniel Kavisu, a close friend of the former Vice President.

"I wish to apologize for the earlier post about the family of H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka," Governor Mutua wrote on Facebook. "This was a result of misinformation and a hoax from several players, some seemingly credible and close to H.E. Kalonzo, who made it seem like a message to me about the family. People can be evil."

He added, "My sincere apologies for any anxiety caused. Happily, all is well. God bless you."

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr also weighed in, stating that the death reports of Mrs. Musyoka doing rounds online were fake.
