January 1st, 2022, marked a significant milestone for the Nairobi Expressway project, with the Kenya National Highways Authority announcing that the highway would be ready for use by June 30th, 2022.
The China Roads and Bridge Corporation, which is undertaking the project, will conduct a test run of the electronic toll fee collection system next month. The pilot run will be managed by Moja Expressway, a subsidiary of the corporation.
According to a notice by the Kenya National Highways Authority, motorists can expect to pay the toll using a combination of electronic and manual payment platforms, with an average payment time of 45 seconds.
