On a day when his racket seemed to be firing on all cylinders, Rafael Nadal stormed into the Wimbledon quarter-finals with a dominant 6-2 6-2 6-2 win over Joao Sousa on Monday.
It was Nadal's quickest workout at this year's tournament, and it marked the end of Sousa's bid to become the first Portuguese player to reach the last eight of a Grand Slam.
With the win, Nadal will now face either Tennys Sandgren or Sam Querrey of the United States in the next round, with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
Despite being seeded third at the grasscourt championships, Nadal had expressed his displeasure at the draw, which had put him on a collision course with Australian maverick Nick Kyrgios in the second round.
