December 30, 2021 - The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) has announced a new maize purchasing price of Ksh 3,000 for a 90kg bag.
According to NCPB Managing Director Joseph Kimote, the price of Ksh 3,000 will enable farmers to get value for their maize due to the Board's accurate weighing services.
The Board is purchasing the maize for commercial purposes and encourages all farmers within regions that are currently harvesting or have already harvested to deliver their grain to the nearest NCPB depot.
There are no administrative conditions for delivery, as long as the produce meets the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) Grade I and Grade II standards.
Mr. Kimote also announced that the Board is offering storage facilities at competitive rates, allowing farmers to opt for the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) or regular warehousing.
Additionally, the Board provides post-harvest services such as grain drying, cleaning, grading, and aflatoxin testing.
