On Monday, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho spoke out against claims of an alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto, calling them “utter nonsense.”
Speaking during the commissioning of a borehole at Shauri Moyo Police Station in Nairobi, Dr. Kibicho stated that the claims, which have been linked to four cabinet secretaries and several Mt. Kenya leaders, are unfounded and should not be dominating headlines.
“I hear assassinations claims… Who has complained? I am yet to hear someone complain. That’s utter nonsense and unfounded claims. We should stop creating things that don’t exist,” Dr. Kibicho said.
The allegations surfaced following an unverified letter that was circulated on social media, which purported to expose the plan to eliminate the DP. One person, Dennis Itumbi, has since been arrested and is expected to be charged in connection with the letter.
Dr. Kibicho emphasized that the ministry will not be deterred from its work by unfounded claims and that they will only deal with the matter once a formal complaint is filed.
