On December 25, 2021, a tragic incident occurred at Kedong ranch in Naivasha, where Sergeant Ayub Apollo was shot and killed by his subordinate, Corporal Joseph Kamau Muthunga.

A court in Naivasha has since ruled that Corporal Kamau be held in police custody for 8 days to allow for further investigations. The investigating officer had initially applied to have the suspect held for 14 days, but the court granted them a shorter period.

Corporal Kamau is accused of shooting his boss, Sergeant Apollo, on Christmas Day. The incident has sent shockwaves through the police community, and the case is being closely monitored by authorities.
