On July 8th, 2019, the government announced a new two-week Huduma Namba registration window, giving millions of Kenyans a second chance to register in the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS).
Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna explained that the new drive aims to help those who were left out during the mass registration exercise that ended on May 25th.
The new exercise will take place at offices of Assistant Chiefs countrywide, and the exact dates will be confirmed later.
Oguna urged all eligible Kenyans who are not listed to take advantage of the new registration period.
According to Oguna, a total of 37.7 million people were listed during the mass registration, while 11 million were left out.
However, Oguna did not provide information on whether there will be a new registration period for Kenyans in the diaspora, who had previously complained about the initial 45-day registration period being too short.
