Kenya is gearing up for its 2019 national census, with the training of supervisors and enumerators set to begin on July 15, 2019, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).

KNBS has recruited a total of 164,700 staff, including 2,700 ICT supervisors, 27,000 content supervisors, and 135,000 enumerators, to conduct the population count scheduled for the night of August 24-25.

The census will be paperless, with a digital application developed by local universities, and KNBS Director-General Zachary Mwangi has expressed confidence in the programme's capacity to capture data.

"We have tested the programme and we are confident of its capacity to capture data," Mwangi said on Monday.
