Published on July 8, 2019, a video of Chinese students learning Gikuyu language in class has left many Kenyans impressed and amused.
The video, shared by comedian Churchill, shows the students enthusiastically trying to learn Kikuyu words such as 'Maitu' and 'cucu' under the guidance of their teacher.
While some Kenyans praised the Chinese students for showing interest in the indigenous language, others expressed concerns that teaching them Gikuyu could be a way for them to 'take over' the country.
However, it's worth noting that Gikuyu is not the only language taught in Chinese schools. Teachers in China have also been teaching students Swahili, a language that is widely spoken in the country.
As the debate continues, one thing is clear: the video has sparked a lively discussion about language, culture, and the role of education in shaping our identities.
