On July 8, 2019, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho dismissed claims that he was behind an alleged assassination plot against Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking to journalists after launching a borehole at the Shauri Moyo Administration Police Camp, Mr. Kibicho emphasized that the saga was fueled by media reports.
He expressed his reluctance to respond to 'useless and baseless allegations' that were under police investigation, stating that no formal complaints had been made against him.
Dr. Kibicho further criticized a report by Human Rights Watch on extrajudicial killings in the country, urging citizens to let the police do their work without making assumptions about who was responsible for crimes.
He accompanied Water and Sanitation Principal Secretary Joseph Irungu during the commissioning of the borehole, which was part of a larger initiative to increase water availability in Nairobi.
