On July 8, 2019, a devastating road accident occurred in Tanzania, claiming the lives of seven people, including five journalists from Azam Media Group.

The accident happened at 2:30am at Kizonzo, between Igunga (Tabora) and Shelui (Singida), when the vehicle carrying the journalists collided head-on with a lorry headed to Dar es Salaam.

The deceased journalists were identified as cameramen Said Haji and Charles Wandwi, vision mixer Salim Mhando, sound technician Florence Ndibalema, and broadcasting technician Silvanus Kasongo.

Azam Media Group tweeted about the incident, saying, "Hawa ndiyo ndugu zetu waliotutoka leo kwa ajali ya gari iliyotokea leo katika eneo la Kizonzo katikati ya Sherui na Igunga. #RIPNduguZetu."

The journalists were on their way to Chato to cover an event officiated by President John Pombe Magufuli on Tuesday.
