On Sunday, December 26, 2021, a police officer attached to Utheri Wa Lari police post in Mai Mahiu shot and killed his senior, Senior Sergeant Ayub Polo, at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha.
The officer, who had arrived late and was intoxicated, was angered when Polo questioned him about his behavior.
According to Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner, Kisilu Mutua, the suspect came to the camp drunk and got angry when he was questioned for his behavior by his senior.
Beatrice Kiraguri, the County's Police Commander, confirmed that the officer was arrested after his cell phone was traced to a bar in Nakuru.
"He will be ferried to Naivasha for further questioning," Kiraguri stated.
The incident is the latest in a series of killings among police officers in Kenya, with President Uhuru Kenyatta intervening after a police officer fatally shot six people in Kabete.
