On Christmas Day, a shocking incident occurred at Kedong ranch AAPS camp in Naivasha, where a police officer, Corporal Joseph Muthunga, shot and killed his colleague, Sergeant Ayub Polo.
According to authorities, the suspect, who is currently at large and armed, had gone berserk when questioned for allegedly reporting to work late.
‘There was a shooting incident at Kedong ranch AAPS camp, the scene has been visited and the in-charge No 222687 S/sgt Ayub Polo found fatally injured after being shot by No.231710 Cpl. Joseph Muthunga using A G3 rifle Serial No. A03055,’ a statement captured in the occurrence book at Utheri wa Lari Police Station in Naivasha read.
Police recovered five 7.62mm spent cartridges at the scene and the body of the deceased was taken to Umme mortuary Maai Mahiu for postmortem.
The suspect, who is at large with the said G3 rifle, is under pursuit by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
