On July 7, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made headlines after requesting Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz and his Kenyan girlfriend Tanasha Donna to name their unborn baby after him.

The request came after the celebrity couple publicly announced that they are expecting a child within the next two months during a double birthday celebration of the singer’s mother and his girlfriend in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

According to reports, the couple revealed that their unborn baby is a boy, and when Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi, who emceed the event, posted the happenings on social media, Sonko commented, “Huyo mtoi akizaliwa Nairobi inafaa aitwe ‘sonko’.. otherwise congrats to the young couple.”

This will be Tanasha’s first child and the Tanzanian singer’s fourth. Diamond has three children, Tiffah and Nillan with Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan and Dylan with former Miss Tanzania Hamisa Mobetto.
