Wayne Rooney Urges Jadon Sancho to Stay at Dortmund Amid Manchester United Transfer Rumors ¶
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has urged England's Jadon Sancho to shun a move to Old Trafford this summer, citing the trust that Borussia Dortmund has in its young players.
Speaking with German newspaper Bild, Rooney said, "Dortmund is a great club with great fans, they trust their young players and you can see that in Sancho and the progress he has made in the last 12 months."
Sancho, 19, has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, but Rooney warned that the teenager should consider whether he would get the playing time he gets in Dortmund when he moves to England, or would he just sit on the bench.
"Playing time is so important for a young player like Jadon, so if he gets the most playing time in Dortmund, he should stay there," Rooney added.
Sancho has three more years on his current deal with the German club, which he joined in 2017 after forcing a move out of Manchester City in a deal around £8 million.
At the end of the 2018-19 league season, Sancho scored 12 goals and 14 assists in 34 Bundesliga matches, an incredible stat that attracted top European clubs to his attention.
