On August 7, 2018, NBA superstar LeBron James made a groundbreaking move by opening the 'I Promise' school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. This innovative program is being hailed as one of the best initiatives for urban youth in the United States.

The school not only targets students but also provides support for their families, offering free GED classes and job skills training at no cost. This holistic approach aims to empower families to break the cycle of poverty and achieve their goals.

Several high-profile celebrities, including Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors, have expressed their support for LeBron's initiative. The school's unique features include free lunch, snacks, and bikes for students, as well as extended hours to help those who are struggling to catch up with their peers.

So far, 240 students have been enrolled in the school, which is located in a state-of-the-art facility. Upon graduation, students will receive a full scholarship to attend the University of Akron, Ohio, tuition-free.

The 'I Promise' school was made possible with an investment of $8 million. In a statement, Michelle Obama congratulated LeBron on his efforts, saying, 'Hopefully, many students will take advantage of the program intended to help them achieve their own dreams.'
