Published on July 8, 2019, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has come out strongly against President Uhuru Kenyatta's government over the deteriorating state of security in the country.

Speaking at the burial of former Member of County Assembly Benson Kiptire in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Murkomen laid the blame for Kiptire's death squarely on the government.

Kiptire, who was also Murkomen's personal assistant, was abducted on June 21 by people claiming to be police officers and found dead the next day with a head injury in Kamatira Forest, West Pokot County.

"Benson is an indictment to the government to which I serve and to which I campaigned for. If another government was in power, Benson would not be in that casket. It's painful but it's true," Murkomen said.

He further stated, "My message to President Uhuru Kenyatta, and I'm very clear in my mind, security will not be managed in the country through assassination and extra judicial killings, it won't solve any problem in this country."

Murkomen claimed Kiptire was assassinated over his stand on banditry attacks and accused the security system of accepting a shortcut to solving problems.
