Netflix has been on a roll with its original series, from Stranger Things to Money Heist, and their latest addition is set to be a hit.

Based on the novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is a medieval fantasy series that revolves around a world where monsters and magic exist.

Henry Cavill stars as Geralt of Rivia, a witcher, a genetically mutated human with supernatural abilities and cat-like eyes, trained from an early age to fight monsters terrorizing humans.

According to the series' Twitter account, 'The worst monsters are the ones we create.'

First announced in 2018, the series is set to debut in December 2019, with fans of the video game and books receiving the news positively.

The series will be based on the books, not the video game, and its length and number of episodes are yet to be determined.
