On a fateful day in April, a 14-year-old class eight pupil from Bondo in Siaya County embarked on a relationship with an older man, which would change her life forever.
According to the girl, the man would take her to the bush, where they would engage in intimate activities, in exchange for a paltry 200 shillings. She revealed that this had happened at least three times, with the man fulfilling his end of the bargain each time.
"We started dating in April. We have been sleeping in the bush with him and in return he would give me Sh 200, now am pregnant," the girl said in a shocking revelation.
When questioned by Bondo Sub County assistant commissioner Samson Okach, the man claimed to be 17 years old, despite having grown a beard and scoring 237 marks in KCPE. However, Okach was not convinced, posing the question, "You claim that you are 17 years old and you have grown beards. And you have come all the way from Alego to come and impregnate girls in Bondo?"
The man later claimed that he was not aware of the girl's pregnancy, but Okach remained resolute, promising to take stern action against the two and urging parents to guide their children to prevent early pregnancies.
