On Sunday, July 7, Kariobangi Sharks forced Everton to a 1-1 draw at Kasarani Stadium in a historic SportPesa trophy clash.
Sharks' Duke Abuya netted the opener in the first half, while Joel Williams equalised for Everton in the second stanza from a set-piece.
The match finished 1-1 after regulation time, and the title was decided through post-match penalties that Sharks eventually won 4-3.
Everton manager Marco Silva later admitted he was impressed with Sharks' performance, promising to review individual player performances for a chance to snap up one for signing.
“The match was competitive. I was impressed with our opponents. I’m going to sit down and analyse the video to see if there is something good that might come out, maybe a Sharks player worth signing,” SportPesa News quoted the Everton boss.
Earlier, Everton had visited East Africa twice, with their first appearance being in Tanzania two years ago, where they faced Gor Mahia FC and won 2-1.
