On July 8, 2019, Uganda's Sebastien Desabre became the latest coach to fall in the wake of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) round 16 eliminations.
Desabre's Uganda national football team had enjoyed a successful campaign through the group stages, finishing second behind hosts Egypt in Group A.
However, after being eliminated in the round of 16, Desabre handed in his resignation, following in the footsteps of Egypt's Hany Abou-Rida, who had resigned just hours earlier.
Abou-Rida's decision to step down was reportedly swift, with sources indicating that he had submitted his resignation letter to his superiors shortly after Egypt's exit from the competition.
Before leaving his position, Abou-Rida took drastic measures, firing the coach of Egypt's national team, Javier Aguirre, for leading the team to an early exit at the round 16 stage.
Abou-Rida also went on to dismiss the entire staff of the national football team, in a move that has left many in the football community stunned.
