Kenyan Football's Historic Day

On a day that will be etched in Kenyan football history, Kariobangi Sharks stunned visiting Everton with a 4-3 win in a penalty shootout at the Moi Stadium, Kasarani.

Tragedy struck earlier in the day as the nation mourned the loss of its most celebrated football hero, Joe Kadenge.

The match was a pulsating 1-1 draw, but it was the post-match penalty shootout that decided the fate of the game.

Brian Bwire, the national U-23 shot-stopper, was the hero of the day, saving two penalties and scoring the decisive one to secure the win for Sharks.

Formed in 2000, Sharks had never played before such a huge crowd, and Sunday's attendance marked a great chapter in their history.
